Hi everyone thanks for coming over.  We have purchased a copy of the Wocka Wocka Muppets Blu-ray set including the lunchbox and movie tin from Bestbuy to giveaway.  This set includes the blu-ray, dvd, digital copy, and soundtrack. Details after the link.

We have been working on this site for a while now and I would appreciate any comments on it.  We would like to know what you like, what you don’t like, what you would like to see.

Enter the giveaway with one of these two options:

1. Via Twitter

  • Follow @ExperienceFilm on Twitter.
  • Tweet the following: Win The Muppets blu-ray and Lunchbox with @Experiencefilm. For details http://www.experiencefilm.com/?p=507 #ExpMuppets

Typically we will be doing contests via Twitter but we would also like to get some feedback about the site, here is the second way to enter.

2. Via ExperienceFilm

  • Comment on this post and give some kind of feedback.
  • Please use a valid email address, if you sign in as guest, as that is how we will contact the winner. Your email will not be visible in the comments.

We want to keep the site simple and the posts won’t be too long and will get to the point quickly.  These are our goals with the site:

  • Share film news
  • Post the latest trailers
  • Review movies
  • Relay movie deals

We are also looking at different types of posts including:

  • What is fun on Netflix or Amazon on demand
  • Box office reports
  • Monthly giveaways of selected Blu-rays/DVDs
  • Links to Reddit IAMAs
  • Upcoming dvd releases.
  • Reviews of Blu-ray commentaries

Let us know if you would be interested in seeing any of these.

We are also still working on a few things including getting a logo designed for the site, integration into Google Plus, we might add some affiliate links and ads but I would prefer to keep it simpler with just affiliates, and some other tweaks.

We are expecting the package to arrive in a couple days so the giveaway entry period will end on March 22nd at 12:00 pm Mountain Time. Here is a link for the official legalese.  Should the order get cancelled we will order a copy of the blu-ray set on Amazon and ship it via two day shipping.  The tin and lunchbox wouldn’t be available in this case.

Again thanks for all the help and we really hope you enjoy the site.

Mike

I like the site.  It’s simple and eye-catching.  I hate overly busy sites.  The blog form is the best format.

    • experiencefilm

      Thanks Dan, appreciate the info.

  • Candie L

I think the site is just a little too simple right now; you can still do more with it. Thank you

    • experiencefilm

Thanks Candie, anything in particular you would like to see?

Hi Daniel, I agree, I love the Muppets. Thanks for visiting.

  • Michaelametzler

I like the site. It’s got a nice black/grey sheme that’s easy on the eyes.
    Thanks!

      Thanks Michael

  • DARLA KIDDER

Your website is such a breath of fresh air , not a lot of flair .

    • experiencefilm

Thank you, we are trying to keep it simple

  • April V.

I like that your set up is so simple but I know a lot of people have trouble with the white type on the dark background.  I like it but others say it hurts their eyes.

    • experiencefilm

We appreciate the info, good to know about the strain on the eyes from white text on black background.  I’ll look into it.

  • Stracey2010

love the site and the colors

    • experiencefilm

Thank you and thanks for stopping by.

I very much like the no-nonsense reviews of current movies and short blurbs of movie rumors and news.  You could use a better navigation and classification system though.  On a side note – I went to 2 different bbys yesterday to buy this exact pack, but both were sold out!  :(  I guess I’ll just have to win it from you instead :)  Thanks (and keep up the good work).

    • experiencefilm

Thanks Katie, we’ll look at the navigation.  Appreciate it.

howdy, I saw your post on /r/shamelessplug and I figured I’d lend a hand.  I like the coverage itself, you guys do a great job of hitting the major points of film news. I do however, have a few recommendations for what I would like to see as a reader. First, I want to know who is writing the articles; it doesn’t have to be as colorful as aintitcool, but you have readers and you have a personality – let them get to know it. Second, on the note of personality, while the no nonsense thing is good, don’t be afraid to editorialize. You’ve taken the time to let us know about a film or an actor, let us know what you think about it. Third, WordPress is dandy but to give a reader or potential reader a sense of establishment and security, a good theme goes a long way. The site at present looks a smidgeon amateurish. I’ve got a few ideas to resolve that but it’s a bit unwieldy for a comment. Anyway, I’m a big fan of geekery, movies, movie blogs (you’ve made it to my movies folder on G Reader btw). Feel free to email me if you want to continue the conversation.

    • experiencefilm

Thanks Ben, I’ll definitely be dropping you an email.  It’s nice of you to say only a smidgeon amateurish, I’m sure there is plenty that could make it better.

Thanks for the opportunity!  I actually have a stuffed plush of the Swedish Chef, haha.  This is my first time to the site and I’m really liking it so far – I see myself checking it out once a day for deals/movie news.  Speaking of movie news, I almost spit out my drink when I heard that Michael Bay is changing the TMNT backstory and making them an alien race?  Are you flipping kidding me?  Quit giving this man childhood franchises to ruin.

Yeah pretty crazy eh, not sure how the alien thing is going to work out.

I like how concise each article is without losing a lot of information. I absolutely hate reading through a bunch of unnecessary information if I don’t have to! But at the same time your articles seem really personable which makes them stand out and more interesting to read. :)

Thanks Morgan, we really would like to keep things simple.

I love that you want to keep the site simple and fun. Your reviews are really good and I enjoy reading them.  I hope your future contests won’t just fo people that have twitter

    • experiencefilm

Thanks, eventually I’d like to have the contests with frequent visitors to the site and have the only requirement be to comment in a particular post… or at least rotate.  Thanks for the info.

Honestly, this is my first visit.

-Liked on Twitter and tweeted your message (obviously mangled my twitter’s link theft) [for future reference, I dislike twitter sweeps.  fwiw.]

-Sharing film news is moderately interesting, but you have to hand pick the good stuff because hollywierd floods the market with “soandso got a splinter” and “whatsherface went to the store” kind of crapnews.

-Trailers are irrelevant.  I and most people I know avoid them because they are both spoiler and misleading.  Too many times the ending is given away or something that isn’t even in the damn movie makes it to the trailer…  I HATE THEM!

-I love opinions on movies.  I have a few favorites but there’s always room for more.  If you and I agree on a few movies, I will happily add you to my rotation of movies-I-haven’t-seen-yet opinions.

-Movie deals…  this is interesting.  I frequent several “deal sites” on the web and they basically cover the basis on everything thats cheap, so I doubt that you’ll end up with any exclusives, but I guess for people that are not me, it could be useful.

    In the future:

What is fun on Netflix or Amazon on demand – good idea, but keep it SHORT!  Movie title, rating, blurb, screenshot.  Thats about it.  Any more and it becomes tedious.
Box office reports – again, interesting as long as its not a disertation.  Numbers and movies, maybe a witty summary…
Monthly giveaways of selected Blu-rays/DVDs – yeah baby, yeah!!
Links to Reddit IAMAs – huh?
Upcoming dvd releases. – ok… as long as they come with reviews and/or recommendations.  Letting me know bla comes out on bla is mostly pointless.
Reviews of Blu-ray commentaries – this is the most interesting thing you’ve said so far.  I’ve only watched about a dozen commentaries in my many thousands of movies and I have to say that they were either phenominal or phenominally bad.  Again, I’d have to make sure that our interests line up, but you would have the potential of consuming many hours of my life if you could let me know with authority which commentaries are worth the time and which are pure drivel.

    Holy long post, Batman!

    • experiencefilm

Thanks for the info and all the opinions. I would definitely avoid the hollywood gossip typically I would post movie X has been greenlit, here’s the first look of Y movie, and yeah probably trailers as well… stuff like that. Honestly I would prefer to keep the contests to people that comment in a particular thread but just starting out we are trying to get the word out.  I agree trailers can often be too spoilery but, if done well, they are a big part of the excitement leading up to the film.  Regarding the netflix and reports I would want to keep it simple.  Reddit IAMA is basically a large forum site and people can come and ask questions and answer.  IAMA stands for I am a… and sometimes has directors or actors that answer he community’s questions. For example Max Landis made an IAMA and anyone could ask questions.

Thanks for taking the time to post.

One of the best films of last year–it does everything that it needs to do story wise, while being relevant, charming and funny. Great score too!

  • Brian E.

Thanks for the giveaway…as with many things in life, Less Is More: an uncluttered web site that is easy to navigate, where the content is the main focus, is preferable to a load of extraneous “stuff” plastered on a page to fill it up.

Best of luck to your endeavor…

To me, this site is more like a blog than anything. I know it’s more of a latest update site, so newest features has to be at the top. But I would like more of an organized approach where at the front, I know what this site is about, and what it offers (similar to the categories you have at the side), and how I can use it to get the latest news.
Even when I click on Trailers, it’s a string of posts. I was expecting a list of the uploaded trailers so far.
Good luck with the site (:
